Rounding

• These patients should be seen first each day

• Seniors and Attending Physicians will round together on the patients in the HAU

• Seniors should assign a junior resident to see the HAU patient as well

  • The junior resident will take ownership of the patients once the patient is transferred out of the HAU

• Daily communication by MRP team with 3B charge nurse about potential tranfers of patients out of HAU

• No - all teams will admit HAU patients starting January 2021

• CCRT will only be involved in the HAU patients if called by the housestaff - they are not automatically involved

• A designated staff that is in-house will see the HAU patients on weekends along with either the junior/senior resident on call

It will be very important to ensure that you use IPASS for signover for these patients. The on-call resident should know:

• Illness severity

  • Stable, watcher, unstable

• Patient Summary

• Action List

  • Any pre-determined items "to-do" on call (i.e. F/U on bloodwork)

• Situation Awareness and Contingency Plan

  • If .... then ...

    • i.e. - If Na rises to 128, turn off IVF

• Synthesis by Receiver
